Special Greyhounds
In addition to the hundreds of "normal" greyhound adoptions that the we support, there come a few that need special care. Following are a few that the Greyhound Alliance is giving special attention.
Foxy Mama - Foxy is a three-legged brood we have taken in. We've given her surgery to repair her poorly executed amputation. She is now recuperating.
Entrance - Entrance is a gentle, sweet and a great dog that we've taken under our wing, and he's looking for a great home. Take a look.
Susan - Susan had lost her right eye, probably in a dog fight. The eye itself had atrophied and become infected. The Alliance took Susan in, and had the eye surgically removed and the lid closed. Susan is now in recovery and foster, looking for a permanent home.

The
Greyhound is as ancient as the desert from which he sprung, and
for thousands of years they were the dogs of choice by kings,
queens, pharaohs, sheiks, and people of distinction.
Today, greyhounds are gentle, loving dogs that thrive on human companionship.
After their racing career, retired greyhounds, also known as 40
mph couch potatoes, make wonderful pets.
In spite of their early training for the race track, Greyhounds love people and tend to be quite sociable. They have been handled a great deal during their early years by dog walkers, trainers, veterinarians, and others.
Generally, Greyhounds are quizzical, sometimes shy, very sensitive, and surprisingly gentle. They possess superior intelligence and can exhibit a quiet but surprising independence. These are not animals whose spirit has been broken by their training or racing experience.
