“Lucy”
By: Toni Willey
I will never forget the day you came into my life.  It was February 2005, when I got a call saying that your family was moving and weren't taking you with them.  Was I interested in you?   What!   How could I not be?  After all, you were a Noble.  I had already met your sisters, Noble Mason (Alexandra) and Noble Osage (Osage); your brothers, Noble Pratt (Tsar) and Noble Tully (Tully).  I was very interested!  And, what an amazing girl you were. In an instant, those wonderful brown eyes looked deep into my soul and you wrapped your tail around my heart.

At first you were very aloof.  But, you couldn't fool me.  Everyday I told you that you were loved and you were “the prettiest girl I know”.  Soon enough you were coming for hugs and snuggles, rubbing your head on my legs.

I had already adopted Luke, (Ale J. Hawk Chris).  In March 2006, we adopted Mike (Ale J. Hawk Mike).  Together we made a happy family.   You loved to go on your walks or rides in the car.  You would be so excited to go, you would be jumping and spinning so much I couldn't get the leash on you.  On days that we had Meet & Greets you seemed to know we were going.   You wouldn't let me out of your sight.  If I brought one of the boys instead of you, you would fling yourself at the door wanting to come along.

You loved being in the yard chasing squirrels and laying in my flowerbed.  Every morning you would hop up on the raised flowerbed and “tip toe though the tulips”, then would lie down in the lavender.  You also loved to garden.  It was unbelievable how fast and deep you could dig a hole.

You were instrumental in helping Lukie with his fears.  Because of you, he stopped being fearful of men.  You would let him lay by you during the thunderstorms he was afraid of.  You were his rock.  Of course, that didn't come without a price.   You would steal his bully sticks and lay on them while you were chewing on yours.  If he came by you to retrieve his, you would give him an ever so slight growl.   You surely were the Princess of the Palace.

I thought we would have many years together, but that wasn't to be.  It started with a limp. I thought you must have pulled your leg, perhaps stepped into one of the holes you dug that I didn't find to fill.  Within 2 weeks it turned into a hop.  I was so worried, we just lost your handsome brother Tully to Osteosarcoma in November.    I took you to the Doctor and they were not sure what they were seeing.   Everyday we prayed very hard that it was something that we could fix.  On December 29nth I took you back for more X-rays, what we had feared was now believed.  The cancer was very aggressive and fractured your bone.  I had to send my beautiful, silver faced girl to the bridge.

I was truly blessed when I was allowed to care for you.  Our time together was short, but our time together was magical.  People tell me how lucky you were to find a home with me, but I was the lucky one to have you.  I didn't rescue you ? you rescued me from a life without you in it.  How do I thank you for what you gave me?

There is now a place in my heart that has your name engraved and you will live there forever.  You touched the heart of so many people with your sweet personality.  How I miss your sweetness.

There will be fields of Lavender for you and Tully to run in at the Bridge.  Go there and shine, my Perfect Princess.
